Where Ros
comes from.
Ros began in 2017 as Rosco Beard Co. — a small batch grooming range made by hand at home. The name came from Rosco, the nickname of Jarrod's dad Ross. It felt like the right way to carry his name forward.
It started with something simple. Dry, irritated skin beneath the beard — and products that weren't doing the job. With a background in beauty therapy, Tara began formulating products designed to treat, heal and hydrate the skin first — with grooming as the second step.
What started at home quickly became something people noticed. At markets across Waikato and the Bay of Plenty, products sold out and a loyal following built around quality, consistency, and word of mouth.
Then life moved. Homes were bought and renovated. A family began. Two children, a move from Hamilton to Tauranga, and a full few years where the brand was quietly set aside.
Not because it didn't matter — but because other things mattered more at the time.
But it never really went away. People kept asking. For the balm. For the oil. For the products they'd used and remembered.
So in 2026, we brought it back. Now simply Ros — a name that carries a little more meaning. Scottish Gaelic for headland. Old Germanic for renown. And to us, quietly: Roots of Sons.
Everything is still handcrafted in New Zealand. Still made in small batches. No nasties, nothing hidden. Now with three scent lines — Lineage, Honour and Tribute — and a full range in matte black glass with bamboo lids.
Tara still makes every product by hand. Her mum Cathy now runs the operational side — packaging, orders, ingredients, the early mornings. A family business. Built properly this time.
"Not just a product. A ritual. Something used daily, without thought — then quietly passed on."
